5. Automated decision-making
From 10 December 2026, the Privacy Act requires us to tell you where we use computer programs to make, or to substantially help make, decisions that could significantly affect your rights or interests. We use one such tool, and we want to be open about it.
Our Franchise Assessment Tool
When you enquire about buying a Little Boomers Basketball franchise, we use our Little Boomers Basketball Franchise Assessment Tool to help us decide how well you may fit the franchise opportunity.
The kinds of personal information used by the tool:
• Your name and email address
• Your answers to our franchise enquiry and assessment questions
The kinds of decisions the tool is involved in:
• The tool produces a fit score out of 100 that indicates how suitable you may be as a franchisee. This score helps our team decide which prospects to prioritise and progress through our franchise recruitment process.
A person is always involved in the final decision about whether to progress a franchise application. The score is one input that assists our team; it does not by itself decide the outcome. If you would like to understand how your information was used or ask us to review a decision, you can contact us using the details below.
6. Who we share your information with, and overseas disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where needed to run our business, including with:
• Stripe to securely process payments
• Brevo to manage our customer records and send communications
• Our franchisees, who are given access only to the parent and player information relating to their own territory or area
• Service providers who help us run our Website, technology and operations
• Government bodies, regulators or others where required or allowed by law
Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers store or process personal information outside Australia. In particular, Stripe may handle your information in the United States, and Brevo may handle it in the European Union (France). Some other service providers may also store information overseas. We take reasonable steps to make sure your information is handled securely and in line with this policy wherever it is held.
7. Cookies and analytics
Our Website uses cookies and analytics tools, including Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook) pixel, to understand how visitors use the site, improve your experience, and measure our marketing. Cookies are small files stored on your device. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, but some parts of the Website may not work properly if you do.
8. Data security
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These steps include secure storage, restricted access on a need-to-know basis, and using reputable providers such as Stripe and Brevo that maintain their own security protections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
9. Data breaches
If a data breach happens that is likely to result in serious harm to you, we will act in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under the Privacy Act. This means we will take steps to contain the breach, assess it, and notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) where required.
10. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. As a general guide:
• Payment and financial records: kept for 7 years to meet tax and financial record-keeping laws
• Parent and player information, including any health information: kept while the child is enrolled and for as long as reasonably necessary afterwards for our legitimate business needs. We review what we hold from time to time and delete or de-identify information we no longer need.
• Franchise prospect information: kept for up to 2 years in our recruitment pipeline, unless you become a franchisee
• Marketing information: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to stop
